Commissioning Engineer Automation – Schiedam – Internationaal
At RH Marine, we realise the system integration of electrical and automation systems on board naval vessels, submarines and luxury superyachts. A complex but fascinating field of work full of innovations. Each ship is custom-made for the customer and after christening we remain responsible for maintenance and upgrades. So it remains ‘our baby’ throughout the life cycle.
For the Installation Defence Safety & Security department, we are looking for a Commissioning Engineer Automation to commission installations on naval ships, both nationally and internationally. This is a full-time position.
You will work under the guidance of an experienced colleague who will teach you everything about the systems installed on board naval vessels. You will learn to commission systems for new-build and refit projects on location. In the Netherlands, these are the shipyards in Vlissingen and Den Helder, worldwide you may be deployed in Australia, the UK, Canada or Singapore, for instance. In practice, the Dutch-international split is 50/50. Projects abroad last up to 4 weeks, after which you are off for 2 weeks.
You are not just on the road; preparations for your work take place from the workshop in Schiedam. There, for instance, you will learn how to perform the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) on the test floor in cooperation with the engineers and panel builders. On board, you will participate in the HAT (Harbour Acceptance Test) and SAT (Sea Acceptance Test), so that you can later coordinate these independently.
You have completed a Bachelor’s degree in (industrial) automation, in which you have gained knowledge of software development and networks. Some experience with system commissioning is a plus, but starters are also welcome. More important is your working attitude; you are eager to learn, meticulous and keen to get started in the maritime sector. In addition, it is no problem for you to be away from home for long periods and to travel internationally. Furthermore, we require:
- Affinity with the maritime sector;
- You are willing to obtain a VCA-VOL certificate;
- You are in possession of a driving licence B or willing to obtain one;
- Good, clear communication, both written and verbal in Dutch and English.
A great company to work for with a rich history and a bright future, with a strong focus on innovation. The collegiality is great; a good atmosphere and cooperation is indispensable to carry out our complex work successfully. No project is the same and every project is special. The end result is always a beautiful sailing ship on which everything works. Work you can be proud of!
You get the chance to build a career in a fascinating field of work, where we will support you through courses and coaching. Of course, we will provide practical support during your stay abroad and safe working in connection with corona. The terms of employment are as follows:
