Collision Avoidance System

Automation technologies and autonomous navigation systems are increasingly common in the maritime industry. These developments are driven by the core requirement to ensure safe and efficient operation and navigation of ships. Besides avoiding groundings and enabling stable navigation through rough weather conditions on the high seas, collision avoidance is the most important task for autonomous navigation systems.

RH Marine has developed CAS (Collision Avoidance System) to complement the autopilot system, providing an alternative collision avoidance path that can eventually be automated.
Working closely with Damen Naval, as part of the FieldLab Autonomous Sailing Technology (F.A.S.T.) project, we have successfully implemented and tested our CAS. This video shows one of the test cases.
