Propulsion Control System

High-precision propulsion control

Single shaft control

Comprehensive solution

The availability of propulsion power is vital for keeping a vessel and its systems operational. The Rhodium Propulsion Control System (PCS) is employed for the generation and distribution of propulsion power supply to the ship in accordance with the various operational readiness conditions.

The Rhodium PCS is an independent and fully autonomous stand-alone system consisting of dedicated Local Processing Units (LPU’s) per propulsion shaft, with each LPU interfacing with the engines, clutches, gearbox, CPP and other propulsion systems. The Rhodium PCS is controlled via PCS control panels in the wheelhouse and the control room.

Multiple configuration support

Flexible design

The Rhodium PCS provides controls for starting and stopping the engines and supports multiple propulsion configurations. These configurations vary from a single-engine fixed pitch propeller, to a complex combined diesel and gas turbine (CODAG) configuration.

The operator can select the actual selection of propulsors via the PCS panel. Control of clutches and shaft breaks to activate each configuration is done automatically by the PCS, including adjusting the combinatory curve accordingly.

Integration with IPMS, PMS and DPT

Rhodium suite

The Rhodium PCS system offers full integration with the Rhodium IPMS, PMS and DPT systems.

Besides the PCS control panels, the Rhodium PCS can also be controlled and monitored via dedicated viewers in the IPMS. This means the operator does not have to physically be at the PCS control panel.

The integration with PMS systems guarantees full support for electrical and hybrid propulsion systems. The integration with DPT systems allows the PCS to be controlled for position holding and speed keeping.
